Margot Zarzycka - violinist born into a family of professional classical musicians.
She originally comes from Poland where she made her solo violin debut at the age of six. Margot is a winner and finalist of numerous European violin competitions, including the Wieniawski International Young Artist Violin Competition in Lublin, Poland.
She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Violin Performance and Music Education from the Music Academy in Poznan, Poland and a Masters of The Arts in Violin Performance and Music Education from the Academy of Music in Gdansk, Poland.
In 1997, Margot was invited to study at Indiana University School of Music where she was awarded the prestigious Emma E. Clause Scholarship in recognition of her meritorious achievements in the study of violin. In the summer of 2000 she obtained her Performer Diploma Degree at Indiana University studying with prof. Henryk Kowalski and prof. Franco Gulli on violin, receiving the finest musical training from the worlds finest most renowned classical musicians. While at Indiana University she served as the Concertmaster and the Principal Violinist of the Indiana University Festival and Chamber Orchestra.
In the winter of 2000 Margot won a full time violin position with the Sarasota Orchestra in Florida, where she is currently serving as a core violinist.
She has also served as a Concertmaster and Soloist with the Charlotte Symphony in Port Charlotte, Florida where she played a leading role on stage. She has also performed with the Florida Orchestra in Tampa, Florida, the Naples Philharmonic in Naples, Florida, the Orlando Philharmonic in Orlando, Florida and the Florida South West Symphony in Fort Meyers, Florida.
Margot also serves as the assistant Concertmaster and The Principal Violinist of the Strauss Vienna Orchestras of America. She has also served as the Principal violinist of the Midsummer Mozart Festival Orchestra in San Francisco, California.
She is an active soloist and a chamber musician. She also serves as a violinist with the Bay Arts Piano Trio and numerous string chamber ensembles in the United States and Europe. Margot is also a leading violinist for Cirque des Voix in Sarasota, Florida performing annually with Key Chorale and The Circus Arts Conservatory of Sarasota.
In the summer of 2009, she joined The Florida Symphonic Choruses on a European Tour of American Music Celebration, as the solo violinist. This leading role led her to great critical acclaim throughout Europe as she was the only violinist to be included on the Tour. Margot is an original founder and soloist of the Classical Music of Poland Concert Series taking place annually since 2004 in Sarasota, Florida under the generous patronage of the Polish-American Association of Sarasota.
Jesse Martins is currently the Music Director of Sarasota Opera’s Youth Opera Program working under the guidance of Artistic Director Maestro Victor DeRenzi. He joined the company in 2011 and has served as Youth Opera Chorus Master for Bizet’s Carmen, Verdi’s Otello, Puccini’s Turandotand La Bohème, and Leoncavallo's Pagliacci. In 2012, was the Associate Conductor in the world premiere production of Daron A. Hagen’s Little Nemo in Slumberland. Since his conducting debut in 2013 with Britten's The Little Sweep, Maestro Martins has conducted Dean Burry's The Hobbit(2014), Hans Krasa's Brundibar (2015), and the U.S. premiere of Dean Burry's The Secret World of Og (2016). As part of Sarasota Opera’s music staff, Maestro Martins served as cover conductor for Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia (2014), Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro (2015), and the upcoming Rossini's L'italiana in Algeri (2017).
Jesse has dedicated much of his professional career working as a pianist in his home country Brazil, New Zealand, England, and the United States. He holds a Master of Arts in Collaborative Piano from Mansfield University (PA), and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Porto Alegre, Brazil). While a Graduate Assistant at Mansfield University, Mr. Martins was involved in many projects such as Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Richard Strauss’ Melodramas for piano and narrator, George Crumb’s 11 Echoes of Autumn, George Flynn’s Chicago Mood, and the Recital Winds & Strings Sweep into the 20th Century as part of the Finger Lakes Chamber Music Festival (NY). He also traveled with the University's Concert Choir to the UK, and the Eisteddfod competition in Wales.
Prior to his graduate studies Mr. Martins was the Assistant Music Director and Program Manager for the Opera Factory Theater (Auckland, New Zealand) – a training center for young singers where he performed the roles of Assistant Coach on David Griffiths’ The Three Franks, Phillip Norman’s A Factory Opera and Pleasure Garden, Rod Biss’ Marriage a la mode, Menotti’s The Consul, Vaughan Williams’ Riders to the Sea, Bizet’s Doctor Miracle; and Music Director on Krasa’s Brundibar, Britten’s Albert Herring, Arthur Benjamin’s Prima Donna, Menotti’s The boy who grew too fast and The Telephone, Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, Arne’s Thomas and Sally, and Mozart’s The Impresario. While in New Zealand Mr. Martins had the chance to work with world renowned soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, British Maestro Sir Andrew Davis, and chorus repetiteur for NBR NZ Opera’s Jenůfa by Leoš Janáček.
